Anthony Mackie Sings a New Tune in ‘Bolden’ Biopic

Update: 5/2014 Anthony Mackie has dropped out of the production and will no longer play the lead character. Downton Abbey’s Gary Carr will replace Mackie in the film.

Breaking News: Anthony Mackie, 30, will return to the screen in a new biopic about the life and death of Jazz music pioneer Buddy Bolden. The film, which is being self-financed and produced by Hyatt Hotels billionaire Jay Pritzker, began production in 2007.

Mackie played the character in Pritzker’s directorial debut, Louis. A black and white silent film about the life of Louis Armstrong.
