“L.U.V” tells the day-long story of a shy 13-year-old boy named Woody, who in search of his family, finds companionship with his troubled ex-con uncle, played by Common. Candis co-wrote the script with Justin Wilson.

With production slated to begin this week, Common, who also will produce the pic, joins a list of actors that includes Dennis Haysbert, Danny Glover, Charles Dutton, Michael K. Williams, Meagan Good and Marz Lovejoy. Newcomer Michael Rainey Jr. will play Woody.

“We’ve been extremely fortunate in putting together an amazing cast for this project,” said producer Jason M. Berman.

“L.U.V.” is a co-production of FilmForward Independent, Bijelonic/Turner Films and Stony Island Films. Berman produced, along with Gordon Bijelonic, Michael Jenson, Joel Newton, Datari Turner and Derek Dudley.
