Derek Luke has landed the job as Keira Knightley‘s love interest in the new Lorene Scafaria-directed film Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.

The film stars a list of Hollywood heavy hitters such as Steve Carell and Adam Brody. As an asteroid nears Earth, a man (Steve Carell) finds himself alone after his wife leaves in a panic. He decides to take a road trip to reunite with his high school sweetheart. Accompanying him is a neighbor (Keira Knightley) who inadvertently puts a wrench in his plan. Luke will be playing a military man seeking Knightley’s character to join him in a bomb shelter to face the end of the world together.

Luke got his start in his breakout performance acting alongside Denzel Washington as a Navy seal in Antoine Fisher. The actor, who starred in the recent NBC show Trauma, will next be seen in this summer’s Captain America: The First Avenger, and recently signed on for a recurring role on Jada Pinkett Smith’s Hawthorne on TNT.
