British Actor Idris Elba tweeted about meeting a director for a part and it sent the web into a frenzy. “Having one of the biggest meetings of my professional life today,” wrote Elba. “meeting a very controversial director for a very controversial part.” Most news and media outlets assumed he was referring to Quentin Tarantino and his latest project Django Unchained. The lead part of Django was said to be written for Will Smith. However, Tarantino was interviewed a week or two ago about casting the project and he denied that any parts were cast. Insisting that he just finished the script.

Other directors and projects that could fit the description of his tweet could be Steven Spielberg and his Martin Luther King project (or his Abraham Lincoln project). We’re not sure how controversial Spielberg is, but he did direct The Color Purple, Schindler’s List, and many other groundbreaking films. Actress Gloria Reuben has already landed a role in the Ab Lincoln film. Landing a role in any one of these projects could be the role of a lifetime for a black actor.
