Lenny Kravitz, the legendary rocker and ‘Precious’ actor, just landed a hot new role in the highly-anticipated film adaptation of the best-selling sci-fi novel The Hunger Games.

Kravitz sat down for an interview to discuss his role in the upcoming film, “Now, I hadn’t read the book yet, so I didn’t know what it was,” Kravitz tells Rolling Stone. “I go out and get the book, read it – oh, wow.”

Kravitz will play the role of Cinna, the fashion stylist and ally of lead character Katniss Everdeen. “I’m really excited to be playing Cinna,” he says. “Reading the book, I’m seeing everything – the Capitol, the arena, all this stuff. This world is going to be incredible.” However, everyone doesn’t share Kravitz’s excitement over his casting. The Hunger Games Fans of the book series are lashing out over Kravitz’s casting. Not surprisingly, a deeper investigation into the uproar revealed that followers of the series were mostly upset over the fact that Cinna will be portrayed by a black man. We saw a similar situation in Hollywood earlier this year when it was revealed that Idris Elba would play a Nordic god in the blockbuster ‘Thor.’

Kravitz is not only a rockstar, but also the son of the late Roxie Rocker, a black actress best known for her role on The Jeffersons. Kravitz is also the father of acting sensation Zoë Kravitz, who can currently be seen in X-Men: First Class. When asked of his thoughts on his daughters’ breakout role, he added “I just saw her in X-Men. That was a trip! I’m really proud of her. How cool is it to go to the movies and see your daughter flying around the screen?”
