Readers of the highly respected magazine Entertainment Weekly have recognized Michael B Jordan, Regina King, and Dulé Hill for their outstanding performances on television by nominating them for EW.com’s fourth annual EWwy Awards competition. The publication asked their readers who they think were overlooked for Emmy award nominations this year and readers responded (loudly).

Truth be told, I never gave Southland a chance. The television industry was crowded with too many cops dramas and saturated with CSI-type detective shows. That all changed when I watched King as Detective Lydia Adams in an amazing episode– online. Regina King is pure excellence in this gritty cop show. Not only is her performance honest, but the show is actually great too! It has all of the ingredients that make up iconic shows like the original Law & Order. Since my breakthrough, I’ve caught up on all three seasons, and I’m desperately awaiting a fourth. King is nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama.

Michael B Jordan was nominated for his performance as Vince on the final season of Friday Night Lights. Not only did this actor shine in his role, he has made a lasting impression in Hollywood with roles in the NBC’s ‘Parenthood’ and the forthcoming blockbuster ‘Red Tails.’ He has been added to our 35 Under 35 (unpublished) list. Jordan is nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama.

USA’s Psych is still going strong while headed into it’s sixth season. And the network has Dulé Hill to thank for that. The actor is nominated for his comedic performance as Gus, one half of a psychic crime-fighting team. Hill is nominated for Best Actor in a Comedy.
