Holly Robinson Peete Fired From ‘The Talk’

Actress/Host Holly Robinson Peete announced today that she had been officially let go from her hosting job on the CBS daytime talk show The Talk.

Rumors have been circulating for weeks now and grew more intense after Leah Remini announced her firing a week ago. Peete acknowledged that she hadn’t been offered a chance to renew her contract, but she remained hopeful. Unfortunately, the network never came around.

Peete took to her personal website and posted the following message:

After weeks in limbo, I was finally ‘officially’ given word from CBS today that I have not been picked up for the second season of The Talk,” the actress writes on her foundation website. “I realize there have been several reports and ‘leaks’ for sometime to this effect but until today I was not contractually released which prevented me from moving on and finding other work.

While I am relieved to have this closure,” she continues. “It doesn’t diminish my disappointment one bit about not continuing with a show I worked very hard to launch and love dearly.

The network added foul-mouthed “D-list” comedian Sheryl Underwood to the cast before informing Peete they would not renew her contract. A casting decision that is being highly criticized by the African-American community.
