Director Robert Zemeckis is pulling together an impressive star-studded cast for the Denzel Washington led drama Flight.

Oscar-nominated and Golden Globe Award-winning actor, Don Cheadle is in final negotiations to join the film, which is being produced by Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald for Paramount Studios.

The script by John Gatins centers on an alcoholic and drug-addicted pilot (Washington) whose plane engine malfunctions, forcing him to rescue the aircraft and its passengers, becoming a hero in the process. When the FAA investigates and finds evidence of drug abuse, it tries to sweep the evidence to the side to help preserve the image of the captain, who is trying to change the course of his life.

Details on the ‘Crash’ actors’ role in the film have not yet been released.  The last time Cheadle and Washington shared the screen it was in the 1995 Carl Franklin neo-noir directed Devil in a Blue Dress.

Cheadle was nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of Paul Rusesabagina in Hotel Rwanda. Cheadle won a Golden Globe for his performance in The Rat Pack.  Most recently, Cheadle appeared in The Guard and can be seen next in  the upcoming Showtime comedy series House of Lies.
