Dorian Missick (‘Mooz-lum’) will join TNT’s new gritty cop drama ‘Southland.’ The actor will play Ruben Robinson, Detective Lydia Adams’ (Regina King) new partner when the show returns January 17 for it’s fourth season.

This casting is a little surprising due to the fact that two African-Americans will have a good amount of camera time on a hit show. We were skeptical when Detective Adams’ former Afro(ish)-Latino partner (Amaury Nolasco) was replaced by a white Latino (Clifton Collins Jr.), and then replaced by another Latino (Jenny Gago).

Detective Lydia Adams’ partners do not have the best track record for longevity on the job. Will Missick have staying power? We will definitely be tuning in to see!
