‘Soul Food’ May Return To Television

The hit tv series Soul Food  may be returning to a small screen near you, according to FishbowlLA.

The series, based on the original 1997 film of the same name, centered around the Josephs, an African-American family living in Chicago.

A source close to Twentieth Century Fox has revealed the studio is planning to bring back the show and revamp it for a new generation.

The original film starred Vanessa L Williams, Michael Beach, Vivica A. Fox, Mekhi Phifer, Nia Long, Jeffrey D Sams, and former child actor Brandon Hammond.

The success of the Soul Food film spawned a television spinoff, which ran on Showtime from 2000 to 2004. The series cast included Vanessa A. Williams (New Jack City), Nicole Ari Parker, Malinda Williams, Rockmond Dunbar, Darrin Dewitt Henson, Boris Kodjoe, and former child actor Aaron Meeks.

Whether any of the original cast from the movie or Showtime series will be involved in the new project remains to be seen.
