‘The Good Wife’: Nicole Beharie Debuts, Renée Elise Goldsberry Returns (Video/Photos)

Nicole Beharie in 'The Good Wife'

Rising actress Nicole Beharie appeared on last night’s episode of CBS’ The Good Wife. The episode, titled “Marthas and Caitlins,” featured Beharie as Imani Stonehouse–an assistant U.S. attorney.

Good Wife writer Robert King recently spoke about Beharie’s character on the show. “We created a new character, Imani, [for] Nicole Beharie,” he continued. “She’s going to be someone we use at the state’s attorney’s office. It won’t be exactly the same mode, but we didn’t want Matt Czuchry to be kind of off there without someone to connect with. That was supposed to be Kelli Giddish. [Sophia] was a good bridge between a Kalinda that doesn’t want to feel anymore and Cary who feels squeezed out by Kalinda’s new [mode]. You’ll see hints of it in the first episode. It’s nothing we cried about more than a day.”

Also appearing in the episode is Renée Elise Goldsberry as the witty attorney Geneva Pine. Goldsberry returns as a recurring character after her initial debut last season.

Beharie can be seen next in several high-profile gigs such as Steve McQueen‘s “Shame,” TD Jakes‘ “Woman Thou Art Loose: On The 7th Day,” and Matthew Cherry‘s “The Last Fall.”
