The Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess is coming to Broadway next month. A fancy new website was launched for the production yesterday. The newly revamped site includes a portal to purchase ticket to the show, multimedia galleries, and music streams featuring snippets of legendary songs like ‘Summertime.’

The revolutionary opera has been reworked for the Broadway stage by Tony-nominated director Diane Paulus (“Hair”), and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks (“Topdog/Underdog”). The new play features a spectacular cast led by four-time Tony Award® winner Audra McDonaald (Ragtime, “Private Practice”), Drama Desk nominee Norm Lewis (Les Misérables, Sondheim on Sondheim) and two-time Tony nominee David Alan Grier (Race, “In Living Color”).

Special giveaways will be handed out for the first 100 ticket buyers in line at the Richard Rodgers Theatre for the first day of box-office sales Nov. 12. The first 12 ticket buyers in line at the Richard Rodgers Theatre will receive a specially designed Porgy and Bess picnic basket, which will include a special chance to win an opening-night prize package inside. The next 90 individuals in line will receive a limited edition messenger bag, with Porgy’s classic line “I Got Plenty O’ Nuttin'” silk-screened on it. They will also have the chance to win a show poster.

Box office opens Nov 12. First previews begin Dec. 17 with an official opening on Jan. 12, 2012.
