David Oyelowo Joins Steven Spielberg’s ‘Lincoln’

David Oyelowo has officially made it! The actor has been added to the cast of Steven Spielberg‘s Lincoln, reports Deadline.

The British actor flew out to Richmond, Virginia to play the role of a cavalryman. He joins Gloria Reuben as the only black actors with prominent roles in the film so far.

This has been one hell of a year for the actor, who is concurrently filming One Shot with Tom Cruise. Oyelowo plays a detective investigating a sniper massacre. Oyelowo, last seen in blockbusters Planet of the Apes and The Help, recently wrapped Lee Daniels-directed The Paperboy, playing a prize winning journalist investigating a possible wrongful conviction of a murderer. The actor also recently wrapped Ava DuVernay-directed Middle Of Nowhere, playing a convicted felon. He can be seen next in Red Tails, the epic story of the Tuskegee airmen, due out Jan. 20.
