Rashida Jones has been cast in the  independent drama-comedy Decoding Annie Parker, joining Helen Hunt and Annie Morton in a supporting role. The film is currently in production in Los Angeles.

THR reports “The indie project from director Steven Bernstein is based on the true story of geneticist Mary Claire King, who discovered a gene linked to breast cancer. Hunt stars as King and Morton plays Annie Parker, a woman who resolves to fight her cancer diagnosis.”  Jones will play a friend of Morton who helps out with research.

Jones is the daughter of music/film producer Quincy Jones. She has starred films such as “Our Idiot brother,” “The Social Network,” and “I Love You, Man.”  Jones can currently be seen on the hit television show “Parks and Recreation.”
