Director and black indie film revolutionist Ava DuVernay released the Sundance trailer for her sophomore effort, Middle of Nowhere. DuVernay pulled together an impressive cast for her new film which includes the likes of rising star David Oyellowo, Lorraine Touissant, Emayatzy Corinealdi, Omari Hardwick, and Edwina Finley.

The director made headlines around the world last year with the success of I Will Follow, her debut feature film which she distributed independently through her AFFRM film releasing company.

Middle of Nowhere follows a woman named Ruby (Corinealdi) who loses her husband (Hardwick) to incarceration and loses herself in the process. Eventually, she becomes torn between two world – and two men – on the journey back to herself.
