Anthony Mackie to play bodybuilder in new film?

Transformers director Michael Bay is in talks to cast Anthony Mackie in his new low-budget film Pain and Gain. Variety reports Mackie will play a “big-hearted bodybuilder” in the film, alongside Dewayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Mark Walburg.

Based on a true story first told in an article from the Miami New Times, film follows a group of bodybuilders who engaged in a campaign of kidnapping, extortion and murder in Florida. We’re told it’s a dark comedy.

Mackie’s recent film credits include The Adjustment Bureau, Real Steel, and Man on a Ledge. The actor can be seen in several upcoming projects which includes Tim Burton‘s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and The Gangster Squad.

The actor will also star in a leading role alongside Forest Whitaker and Sanna Lathan in the psychological thriller Vipaka.
