‘Safe House’ Star Denzel Washington Talks New Films, Black Struggle In Hollywood

Denzel Washington discusses "Safe House"

Veteran actor Denzel Washington sat down with NBC’s The Grio to discuss his upcoming film, Safe House.

Washington plays a former FBI agent gone rogue alongside Ryan Reynolds in the new action flick opening in theaters next week.

Washington, who directed and starred in the all-black cast of The Great Debaters, expressed his thoughts on the struggles black actors and filmmakers face in Hollywood.

“It’s almost impossible to get $100 million to make a movie about a black family in the inner city, New York,” said Washington. The actor added “It’s the most difficult for African-American women to get films made.”
