Meet the All-star Cast of ‘The First Family’

The First Family

A new comedy series about a fictional African-American president and his family has been greenlit for a staggering 104 episodes. The project, produced by Byron Allen‘s Entertainment Studios, will star some of television’s most well-respected black actors and comedians. According to THR:

Marla Gibbs, who starred in The Jefferson’s and 227, among others, is joined in the cast of The First Family by singer and Dancing With the Stars Gladys Knight as the president’s mother, Sister, Sister’s Jackee Harry, Seinfeld’s Michael D. Roberts, veteran actor John Witherspoon as the president’s father, Hispanic comedian Paul Rodriguez, The Bernie Mac Show’s Kellita Smith as the First Lady, Jamie Foxx Show veteran Christopher B. Duncan, who plays the president of the United States, and others.”

Whew! Hopefully, the production quality and writing will be up to par. The First Family is set to debut this fall on broadcast syndication, cable and digital media.
