Broadway’s ‘Magic/Bird’ Will Close May 12

Kevin Daniels as Magic Johnson in 'Magic/Bird'

After just 38 performances and only one month after it’s official opening, the curtain is coming down on Broadway’s Magic/Bird.

Unfortunately, the play received bad reviews and won no Tony award nominations. Eric Simonson’s play about the epic rivalry and unlikely friendship between Magic Johnson and Larry Bird will close on Saturday, May 12, at the Longacre Theater, the show’s producers announced on Tuesday.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Kevin Daniels, the actor who plays Magic, a little under two weeks ago. The Juilliard grad talked to us about his experience in the play and expressed his excitement about being cast. Rob Ray Manning Jr and Francois Battiste co-starred in various roles.
