First look at ‘Won’t Back Down’ starring Viola Davis, Ving Rhames and Bill Nun
Oscar nominee Viola Davis returns to the big screen this fall in the powerful educational drama Won’t Back Down (formerly Steel Town / Still I Rise).
The pic, which has gone through several name changes, centers Davis as a strong willed mother and school teacher determined to provide the best public education for inner city children by any means necessary.
Davis leads a star-studded cast that includes Maggie Gyllenhaal, Rosie Perez, Bill Nun, Ving Rhames, Lance Reddick, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.
Viola Davis and Maggie Gyllenhaal play two determined mothers, one a teacher, who will stop at nothing to transform their children’s failing inner city school. Facing a powerful and entrenched bureaucracy, they risk everything to make a difference in the education and future of their children.
Won’t Back Down is scheduled to hit theaters on Sept 28. In the meantime, check out the trailer/footage:
