Jennifer Hudson joins cast of NBC’s ‘Smash’

Jennifer Hudson is throwing her hat in the ring for an Emmy. The Oscar award-winning actress has joined the cast of NBC’s Broadway-inspired series Smash. Following in the footsteps of Bernadette Peters last season, Hudson will play a Broadway star in a multi-episode arc on the upcoming second season.

Vulture reports:

Jennifer Hudson is finally coming to Broadway, sort of. The Oscar-winning Dreamgirls actress has signed on to do a multi-episode arc next season on NBC’s Smash, where she’ll play a Tony-winning star “who reached [her] Broadway dream but also paid a price for it,” according to the network. And she is telling you, she’s not going … because she’s in tech.
