Michael Jai White (“For Better or Worse”) and Lynn Whitfield (“Without a Trace”) are set to star in the telepic Somebody’s Child, which premieres in August on GMC TV.

The inspirational family drama is currently in production in North Carolina. The project, written by Siddeeqah Powell, was a finalist in the American Black Film Festival’s GMC Faith and Family Screenplay Competition in 2011.

The synopsis reads:

A divine twist of fate causes Constance Rivers (Whitfield) and her son Douglas (White) to open their hearts to an ex-convict, Benjamin Sparks (Byron Minns). While on the brink of losing her battle with kidney failure, Constance’s near death confession instantly collides her past with her present. Douglas and Benjamin learn they are fraternal twin brothers who were separated at birth 37 years ago. On the verge of losing their mother, the two must work to develop a bond of brotherhood that will last a lifetime and give their mother peace.

The complete cast includes Michael Jai White, Lynn Whitfield with Nadine Ellis, Clifton Powell and Byron Minns.
