Kevin Hart will play the lead role in Universal’s newly-acquired comedy Ride Along, Deadline reports. Principal photography is set to begin in October.

The actor will re-team with director Tim Story and producer Will Packer to recreate the success of their previous film Think Like a Man, which made more than $90 million dollars in the United States alone.

Hart will play “a second-grade teacher who is ready to get married, but first he must survive a Training Day-like ride-along experience with his fiancee’s tough cop brother, who doesn’t want the marriage to happen and tries to scare off the suitor.”

Ice Cube will play the tough cop character.

This is one of the many projects Hart is attached to star in. The comedian is also set to star in a buddy-cop action comedy with Seth Rogan, and was recently announced to join the remake of 1980s’ classic About Last Night. Hart is also rumored to star alongside Kevin James in Paramount’s Valet Guys.
