Maria Howell Joins ‘Hunger Games’ Sequel
What racist backlash? Lionsgate ignores the haters and casts a third black actor for it’s upcoming The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
Maria Howell has been cast in the role of Seeder, a former Hunger Games winner from District 11. Seeder will compete in the Quarter Quell Games, which sees past Hunger Games champions compete in a vicious duel to the death. According to EW, “Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) takes a liking to Seeder the moment they meet, when Seeder gives Katniss vital information about the families of Rue and Thresh.”
Howell’s movie credits include The Color Purple, The Blindside, and most recently, What to Expect When You’re Expecting. Her television credits include “Army Wives” and “The Vampire Diaries.” She can be seen next in NBC’s “Revolution,” which debuts this fall.
Catching Fire hits theaters on Nov. 22, 2013
