The movie stars Academy Award nominee, Queen Latifah as ‘M’Lynn’, Golden Globe and multiple Emmy-winner Alfre Woodard as ‘Ouiser,’ Tony Award winner Phylicia Rashad as ‘Clairee,’ Grammy winner Jill Scott as ‘Truvy,’ Adepero Oduye as ‘Annelle’ and Tony nominee Condola Rashad as ‘Shelby.’ The cast also includes Tory Kittles, Lance Gross, Michael Beasley and others.
An adaptation of the esteemed play and 1989 film, this modern-day version chronicles the lives and friendship of six women in Louisiana. Supporting each other through their triumphs and tragedies, they congregate at Truvy’s beauty shop to ponder the mysteries of life and death, husbands and children – and hair and nails — all the important topics that bring women together.

The shop welcomes a new girl named Annelle (Adepero Oduye) but Ouiser (Alfre Woodrd) isn’t too impressed!

M’Lynn’s (Queen Latifah) daughter, Shelby (Condola Rashad), is getting married and has wedding day jitters. Her mom and family friend Truvy (Jill Scott) are right by her side for support.

Dealing with increasing illness, Shelby (Condola Rashad) decides to chop off her hair.

Times get more trying as Shelby (Condola Rashad) needs medical intervention to keep her going.

Life goes on. The ladies encourage Ouiser (Alfre Woodard) to hook up with a white member of the congregation.

Unexpected tragedy strikes.

The news is devastating.

A close-knit community is in mourning.

Rest in peace.

M’Lynn (Queen Latifah) has trouble dealing with her unbearable loss.

But her family and friends got her back and life goes on…
