Denzel Washington Graces The Cover Of GQ
Washington sat down for an interview to discuss his early career, his influences, and what role made him nervous.
When asked which actor has influenced him, the actor cites Robert De Niro. “There’s a scene in The Godfather II. De Niro’s in a theater. And he’s looking back. It’s just a look,” says Washington. “I don’t think I’ve ever imitated another actor, but there’s nothing wrong with learning from them.”
The actor also revealed the reason why he passed on 2007′s Michael Clayton. “With Clayton, it was the best material I had read in a long time, but I was nervous about a first-time director, and I was wrong. It happens,” Washington said. George Clooney landed the role and an Oscar nomination. The film received an Oscar nomination for Best Picture.
