It’s official! The stage adaptation of the cult film Kinky Boots has found it’s home on Broadway and will open at the Al Hirschfeld theater in Spring 2013.

Based on the British film about a shoe factory that is revitalized when it switches to fetish footwear, Harvey Fierstein’s stage adaptation is nothing less than the spectacle you expected it to be. The musical received rave reviews during previews in Chicago.

As we previously reported, Billy Porter is set to take on the role of Lola, a drag queen performer who influences the shoe factory to switch over to risque heels and helps design the new products. The role was originally played by British actor Chiwetel Ejiofor in the 2005 film.
