Terrence Howard Joins Viola Davis in ‘Prisoners’

Terrence HowardTerrence Howard has joined the cast of  Denis Villeneuve’s Prisoners, which also stars Viola DavisDeadline has learned exclusively

Howard, who was nominated for an Oscar for Hustle & Flow,  also joins Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Melissa Leo, Maria Bello and Paul Dano.

Written by Aaron Guzikowski (“Contraband”), the story revolves around a small-town carpenter named Keller (Jackman) whose young daughter and her best friend are kidnapped. After the cops fail to find them, Keller takes the law into his own hands, but in the process runs up against Detective Loki (Gyllenhaal), a hot-shot cop with confidence to burn.

Details have not been released on Howard’s role in the film, but based on his past roles, it’s more  than likely the actor will be playing a cop again.

Principal photography is set to begin in February with a theatrical debut eyed for Fall 2013.
