Wendell Pierce Joins Michael J Fox’s Sitcom as Series Regular

Wendell Pierce has been cast as a series regular in Michael J Fox’s as-yet-untitled NBC sitcom, which already received a 22-episode pickup for next fall.

The series, based on Fox’s real life,  will center on Mike Burnaby, a husband and father struggling with Parkinson’s Disease in New York City.

Pierce will play Fox’s boss at a local TV station. His character  is described as a  “slick, twice divorced man.” According to Deadline, “Pierce was actually the prototype for the role.”

Pierce currently stars as musician Antoine Batiste on HBO’s ‘Treme,’ which recently wrapped production on it’s fourth and final season. His previous credits include ‘The Wire,’ ‘Numb3rs‘ and ‘Third Watch.’ In film, he can currently be seen in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, which is now playing in theaters.
