FX’s The Americans has found it’s black political tie-in character.

Derek Luke has been cast in a recurring role on the upcoming first season of the 1980s-set Soviet-era drama starring the Kerri Russell and Matthew Rhys as KGB spies posing as Americans.

Luke will play Gregory, a civil rights activist-turned-KGB asset. His romantic past with Elizabeth Jennings (Russell) complicates his work as a trusted operative, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Luke’s television credits include “Trauma” and TNT’s “Hawthrone.” His film credits include Sparkle and Notorious.

‘The Americans’ will premiere Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 10/9c on FX.
