Lindsay Owen Pierre to Play Malcolm X in Lifetime’s ‘Betty & Coretta,’ Replaces Wood Harris

Lindsay Owen Pierre headshotLindsay Owen Pierre has taken over the role of Malcolm X in the upcoming Lifetime movie Betty & Coretta, Blackactors.net has confirmed.

Multiple sources had previously reported Wood Harris had been cast as the civil rights leader in the telepic, but for reasons currently unknown to us, we have learned he will no longer be involved in the film.

Pierre joins Angela Bassett, Mary J. Blige, and Malik Yoba in the televised drama about the real-life dual stories of Coretta Scott King and Dr. Betty Shabazz following the tragic assassinations of their husbands.

Pierre, who’s small-screen credits include bit parts in “Blue Mountain State” and “The Listener,” shared his feelings on the casting by posting a photo of his movie-set trailer with the caption “Still pinching myself.”

“Betty & Coretta” premieres Saturday, Feb. 2 at 8/7c.
