Oscars 2013: Denzel Washington and Quvenzhané Wallis Nominated Oscars show host Seth MacFarlane and actress Emma Stone announced the nominees for the 85th annual Academy Awards this morning at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

Denzel Washington was nominated for Best Actor for his brilliant performance as Captain Whip Whitaker in Flight.

Not surprisingly following all the buzz last year, Quvenzhané Wallis was nominated for Best Actress for her performance in indie-favorite Beasts of the Southern Wild.

Wallis, who is just 9 years-old, has become the youngest nominee ever in the category. She was only five when she auditioned for the lead role and six when she shot the film.

The award show telecast will air on Sunday, February 24 at 8:30pm ET/5:30pm PT on ABC.
