Members of the cast of Alex Haley’s “Roots” appeared on “The Wendy Williams Show” this week to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the legendary miniseries and to promote the new PBS special, Pioneers of Television.

Levar Burton, Ben Vereen, Lesley Uggams and Oscar winner Louis Gossett, Jr. discussed life after the series, and also responded to director Quentin Tarantino‘s controversial comments about the 1977 production, calling it “oversimplified” while criticizing the actors’ performances. Hear what they said in the video below.

Well, it didn’t end there. Burton continued to take shots at Tarantino the following day. “Django Unchained is not a movie that’s based in reality and should never be compared to real depictions of slavery like Roots,” said Burton.

Was Django Unchained a better depiction of slavery? Did Jamie Foxx give a better performance than TV legend Levar Burton? Share your thoughts below and let us know what you think.
