The upcoming pilot for “The Vampire Diaries” spinoff “The Originals” has found Klaus’ protege in one of black Hollywood’s fastest rising actors.

Charles Michael Davis has been cast in a key role in the potential drama series “The Originals,” which is expected to debut on April 25 alongside the original CW drama.

Davis will play Marcel, the fierce modern vampire who now calls the shots in New Orleans. According to Deadline, he’s described as “wicked, wild and charismatic.”

“The Originals” will follow the original family of vampires, as Klaus (Joseph Morgan) returns to the French Quarters in New Orleans, a city in which helped build centuries ago, and reunites with his former protege (Davis).

Davis joins “Vampire Diaries” stars Morgan, Daniel Gillies and Phoebe Tonkin, who will reprise their original vampire roles in the new spinoff.

Davis, who just last year was appearing in Target commercials, is also set to recur on ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy.” His previous television credits include recurring roles on ABC Family’s “Switched at Birth” and BET’s “The Game.”
