Lenny Kravitz (The Hunger Games) will not be  playing Marvin Gaye in an upcoming biopic, Deadline reports. The singer-turned-actor will be replaced by  Jesse L. Martin (Rent) in the Julien Temple-helmed Sexual Healing, which is set to begin filming later this moth in the UK.

The pic will center on “the final years of Gaye’s life in London from 1981, when he was suffering from an addiction to alcohol and an allergy to the taxman, and how he was rescued by music promoter Freddy Cousaert and spirited away to his flat in Ostend, Belgium, to recover.”

As we reported back in November, Kravitz was set to play the Motown legend in Sexual Healing, but Gaye’s family wasn’t too happy with the casting news and spoke out against the project. Looks like it worked.
