Lee Thompson Young Dead at 29

Lee Thompson YoungLee Thompson Young, the actor who played Detective Barry Frost on TNT’s tentpole drama “Rizzoli & Isles,” was found dead Monday in an apparent suicide. He was 29.

According to reports, Young’s body was discovered by his landlord in his North Hollywood apartment after he failed to show up for work in the morning.

He rose to fame as the star of the Disney show “The Famous Jett Jackson,” which aired from 1998 to 2001. He went on to act in films including “Friday Night Lights” (as Chris Comer) and “Akeelah and the Bee.”

TNT Released the following statement:

“Everyone at Rizzoli & Isles is devastated by the news of the passing of Lee Thompson Young. We are beyond heartbroken at the loss of this sweet, gentle, good-hearted, intelligent man. He was truly a member of our family. Lee will be cherished and remembered by all who knew and loved him, both on and offscreen, for his positive energy, infectious smile and soulful grace. We send our deepest condolences and thoughts to his family, to his friends and, most especially, to his beloved mother.”

Young’s television credits include “Smallville,” “Flash Forward,” Scrubs,” and “South Beach.” His film credits include Friday Night Lights, The Hills Has Eyes 2, and Akeelah and the Bee.
