It’s official! American Crime Story‘s Sterling K. Brown is an Emmy winner! The actor, who has been praised by critics and fans for his work as prosecutor Christopher Darden on FX’s The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story, took home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie during Sunday’s 68th annual Emmy Awards.

“You didn’t know who I was, but you checked the box anyway and that makes me very, very happy,” he said, referring to the television academy’s members voting for him over his higher profile competition.

Brown went on to thank his family and his show’s cast and crew, saying “Thanks for giving a brother a chance.”
