Quester D. Hannah (dir.) is casting “Adede,” a New York University graduate student short film about a Nigerian man who struggles to stay in China with his family, despite facing deportation. The film begins when the police raid his workplace days after his visa is denied.
Rehearses Dec. 10-22, 2012 in NYC & Jan. 6-8, 2013 in Guangzhou, China; shoots Jan. 9-15, 2013 in Guangzhou, China.
Seeking—Adede: male, 30s, Nigerian, married, a struggling businessman in Guangzhou, China; actor should have a strong accent. Meixiu: female, 30s, Chinese, married, a factory worker; actress should be able to speak some Cantonese. Nebechie: girl, age 10-15, mixed race, Adede and Meixiu’s rebellious daughter. Bandele: boy, age 10-15, mixed race, Adede and Meixiu’s dutiful son.Chiekwelu: male, 30s, Nigerian, Adede’s best friend and business partner. Note: All actors must possess a valid passport. Visas will be paid for by the filmmakers.
Auditions will be held by appt. only Dec. 1-9 in NYC.
